Paint that looks tired is usually not worn out, it is scratched. Thousands of fine swirls from brush washes and dry towels scatter light in every direction, so the color reads flat and grey even after a wash. Correction takes a very small amount of clear coat off with a machine polisher, pads, and compounds, starting with the gentlest step that actually works and finishing with a fine polish to bring the gloss back up.
We check the result under lights panel by panel as we go, because a car only has so much clear coat and it does not grow back. Some cars need one polishing stage and no more. Deeper scratches often improve rather than disappear, and you will hear that before we start rather than after. Correction pairs well with a coating, which keeps the finish you paid for from sliding straight back.
